Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom

During the coronavirus crisis, people in the asylum system were forcibly displaced into hotel detention. With no recorse to public funds, migrants were housed in inadequate and inhumane conditions, with no access to money, adequate and culturally appropriate food and vital health services. Docs not Cops have a summary of this here.

Being just a humble rollerskater I am helping by the only way I know how. By skating… EVERYTHING. That’s right I am going to try and skate all 132 (count by Skatepark Scotland) to raise funds for charities to support those in the asylum system.

———————-

The charities which I have chosen to support are:

Ubuntu Women’s Shelter

The Unity Centre

Migrants Organising for Rights and Empowerment [MORE]

which are grassroots organisations that do vital work in helping those in the asylum system and/or no recourse the public funds.

All donations will be split equally between the 3 charities.

———————————————

If you can’t donate financially but wan’t to support my journey email your MP to raise the issue of asylum seeker support.

I aim to skate all skateparks as soon as I can, however if an area is in lockdown I am obviously not going to break that.

Please get in touch about any secret skate spots you may know and I’ll add it to my list!

Buttery smooth concreteto potholed, sleet pounded tarmac; I aim to skate them all. Every skatepark across the land I am coming for you!
